Autopsy- Severed Survival

Artist: Autopsy
Album: Severed Survival
Genre: Death Metal
Year: 1989
Website: Myspace

FOR FANS OF: DEATH, POSSESSED, GRAVE, DISMEMBER, DEATH BREATH

This is another highly influential and classic American death metal album. At first, the sound of the sloppy bass loud in the mix kind of bothered me, but now I've grown to love it. This shit is a must-have in any self respecting metal fan's collection.

Artist: Knut
Album: Challenger
Genre: Mathcore/Sludge
Year: 2002
Label: Hydrahead
Website: Myspace

FOR FANS OF: BOTCH, COALESCE, CURL UP AND DIE, GAZA

Knut are one of the most under-rated bands of the Hydrahead Records technical metalcore/mathcore bunch. The technical drumming and guitar work make for an interesting listen and the vocals are just viciously heavy. Highly recommended.

Fight Amp- Hungry For Nothing

Artist: Fight Amp
Album: Hungry For Nothing
Genre: Sludge/Noise/Punk
Year: 2008
Website: Myspace

FOR FANS OF: UNSANE, THE JESUS LIZARD, KYLESA, KNUT

Fight Amp, previously known as Fight Amputation, have a gritty Amphetamine Reptile sound. Their thick distorted basslines and filtered vocals are similar to legendary NYC noise rockers Unsane. The drum patterns are creative and provide a perfect backdrop for the thick basslines and abrasive guitar tone. Several different styles of heavy music are thrown into the mix, resulting in one of the best albums of 2008.

Aura Noir- The Merciless

Artist: Aura Noir
Album: The Merciless
Genre: Black/Thrash Metal
Year: 2004
Website: Myspace

FOR FANS OF: BATHORY, CELTIC FROST/HELLHAMMER, VENOM

Aura Noir would have fit in perfectly with Bathory, Hellhammer, and Venom in the early 80's. They manage to be ugly and raw while still having Grade-A song writing. Highly recommended for any fan of early black metal.

Artist: Cryptopsy
Album: Whisper Supremacy
Genre: Technical Death Metal
Year: 1998

FOR FANS OF: SUFFOCATION, CANNIBAL CORPSE, GORGUTS, DYING FETUS

This is the third Cryptopsy album, the first with singer Mike Disalvo, whose George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher meets Jimmy Jasta vocal style gives the band a more -core sound. Their mix of technical death metal and hardcore pre-dates the current "Deathcore" explosion by a decade.

Genre: Black/Death Metal
Year: 1998

FOR FANS OF: DISSECTION, IMMORTAL, SATYRICON, THE FUNERAL PYRE

This is a near perfect example of death metal tinged black metal. Amazing riffs and melodies from beginning to end. If you like black metal, get this. Even if you don't, try this.

Sometimes I feel like this is the only black metal album I will ever need.

Outlaw Order- Dragging Down The Enforcer

Artist: Outlaw Order
Album: Dragging Down The Enforcer
Genre: Sludge/Hardcore
Year: 2008
Website: Myspace

FOR FANS OF: EYEHATEGOD

Calling this a new Eyehategod album wouldn't be too far from the truth. This band is basically Eyehategod minus Jimmy Bower, who is currently busy with Down. They put out a 7" on Southern Lord in 2003 and now they're back! Sounds just like Eyehategod. What more could you want?

Don't be fooled by the stupid cover, this shit is pure sludgy goodness.
